Chocolate Caramel Slice
Ingredients:
2 or 3 tins of Sweetened Condensed Milk
250g Butter
4 tablespoons of sugar
2 eggs
3 cups self-raising flour
1 packet of Nestle Milk Chocolate Buds
To make the caramel:
Simply boil the tins of condensed milk on the stove for approximately 3 hours. Be sure to move and turn the tins around every hour, to stop burning. You should keep the tins covered with boiling water at all times. Once done, let them cool. Put contents of the three tins in a bowl, and mix until smooth.
To make the base:
Soften the butter, and mix with sugar until creamed. Add eggs and stir. Add flour, and mix until pastry like texture. Spread mixture over the base of a large baking dish, and bake in moderate oven until brown.
Once base has cooled, spread the caramel over as evenly as possible.
To add the chocolate:
Melt the chocolate buds in the microwave, or over boiling water, whichever you prefer. Once melted until runny and smooth, quickly spread the chocolate over the caramel, as evenly as possible.
Place the tray in the fridge to cool. Once the chocolate has hardened a bit, use a knife to score the chocolate according to the size of the portions you wish to serve. This makes it much easier to cut later!!
